Our History - Colorado Wildfire Relief

The devastating wildfires in the summer of 2012 inspired the 4th event, Colorado Wildfire Relief. Donations went to the Red Cross. This fantastic event was guided by the amazing Meg Bratt.

Our History - Wish for Wheels

Wish for Wheels was our 3rd fundraiser, on June 30, 2012. Sarah Weight of Prana Fitness (www.pranafitness.org) lead us in a "Yoga for Cyclists" flow. Wish for Wheels is a great organization that works with Denver Public Schools to provide new bicycles and helmets to kids in need. We are happy to support them!

Our History - The Chanda Plan Foundation

"Let's move in honor of those who cannot move on their own."

May 12th, 2012 was our 2nd event. I was inspired by the Chanda Plan Foundation and helping people with physical disabilities gain access to alternative care, such as massage, yoga, acupuncture and chiropractic care. These alternative modalities are incredibly beneficial to people whose care otherwise involves drugs, needles, surgeries.

Our History - fundraising for neighborhood child

Yoga For A Cause began as a community gathering in March 2012.

I had heard of a little boy in the neighborhood with cancer, and his family was reaching out to raise money to cover the mounting medical expenses. I had been wanting to bring people together for a yoga event, and this seemed like a nice place to start, as a fundraiser for his family.

The first event brought in 15 wonderful people and we raised $160 for the family. The event took place at the mother'hood (http://themotherhooddenver.com/) on 29th & Zuni in Denver. Many thanks go to the donation of the YogaPod for the event!

Our first event included a yoga class taught by 4 amazing teachers. I started off the class, then Kat Saks (http://www.katsaksyoga.com/) took over. Jennifer Lux (http://blissfulbirthing.org/profile.html) taught the next powerful piece. Kristin Crosby finished up with a heart-opening savasana.

Yoga was followed by a Potluck Social. All yogis brought something to share, a dish or drink. This was an amazing piece of the evening, in my opinion. Being able to chat over good brought people together, forging that community I desired to create.
